Support the Restoration of Baysgarth House

In October 2024, The Ropewalk charity signed a 15-year lease with North Lincolnshire Council for Baysgarth House, with the ambition of restoring and reimagining this important Grade II* listed building for the benefit of the community.

Since then, significant progress has been made. Through grants from the Community Ownership Fund, UK Shared Prosperity Fund and North Lincolnshire Council, Phase I of the project has been successfully completed. This included the restoration of the historic stable block, park lodges and gatehouse, together with external works to Baysgarth House itself. The former stables are now home to the popular Baysgarth Stables Café and cycle display, welcoming visitors to the park once again.

In July 2025, Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent were granted for Phase II of the project, focusing on the main house. We are also delighted to have been awarded a grant of £100,000 from FCC Communities Foundation to help fund the first stage of these works.

Work is scheduled to begin in Spring 2027 and will include the restoration of exhibition rooms, improvements to accessibility, repairs to historic features and the creation of new displays telling the story of Baysgarth House and its place within the history of Barton.

While this latest funding represents a major step forward, additional support is still needed to help complete the project. Every donation, large or small, helps preserve an important part of Barton's heritage and brings us closer to creating a vibrant cultural and community space for future generations.

As a much-loved Barton landmark with a rich history, we hope that individuals, businesses and organisations will want to play a part in bringing Baysgarth House back to life.

All contributions will be acknowledged on the Baysgarth House website and on a display within the house at the following levels:

£5 to £1,000 - Baysgarth House Supporter
£1,001 to £5,000 - Baysgarth House Bronze Supporter
£5,001 to £10,000 - Baysgarth House Silver Supporter
£10,001 to £25,000 - Baysgarth House Gold Supporter
£25,001 and above - Baysgarth House Platinum Supporter
